Turkey Week

Thanksgiving is usually more like a week of festivities for us as we have a few different family get-togethers. This year was no different. We started last weekend with the Wagner family and the usual madness of all the kids getting together. It's fun that they're so close in age and, for the most part, play together pretty well. Keagan just took it all in, itching to join the fray, I'm sure. My dad took all of the kids down to the new playground at BMS since it was such a beautiful day so they burned lots of energy down there. Jeff and I joined them for a bit and played on swings for the first time in years. There was no under-dog or anything quite so adventurous but I'd forgotten how fun it is to swing! I highly recommend that if you haven't done it in years, you should... Of course, the real downer of the day was the Browns losing to the lowly Lions...ugh. On the opposite end of the kid spectrum, we had Thanksgiving with the Teynors on Thanksgiving day where Keagan and Dylan are by far the youngest so get lots and lots of attention. It takes many tables put together but we still fit around one long "table," despite our growing family size. It was a late night getting home since we couldn't resist partaking of the poker game (and my hubby actually brought some money home for us - yes!) but totally worth it. We have so much to be thankful for, this year especially with our happy, healthy little boy. Here's hoping the rest of Keagan's Thanksgiving seasons are so full of fun, food, family and friends!

Apparently Jesse got the memo about posing for the picture. Our son? Not so much. He'd much rather try to chew on Vicki's boots.

OSU/Michigan 2009

A few years ago, Jeff and I threw together a little OSU/Michigan party for our immediate families and our friends, Jacob and Kristi, and it's continued every since. I had things pretty easy this year since Jeff was planning to make a hobo stew in our turkey fryer so I didn't really have to do any cooking. I have to admit, I was a little leery because we'd never made it before, but it turned out great (good job, honey!) and got lots of compliments. As usual, there was no food shortage at 8260, a good time was had by all and the Buckeye fans were excited about the trouncing of that team up North.

The day started with a rousing game of Cops & Robbers. Any guesses as to who played the robber?

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Oberhaus!

Jeff and I were so excited to head to Wapakoneta and then to Lima to celebrate their WEDDING with Denise and Brian. We both met Denise through work at Crowe, and she was smart enough to like hanging out with us (or, probably the other way around, more like it!). I still remember the day Denise was sitting in my office and told me that she'd invited Brian to an office happy hour, and that they were "kinda" dating. Look how far you've come! The wedding was fantastic and Denise looked like quite the beautiful bride in a gown her mom made. Thank you, Denise and Brian, for inviting us to share in your special day (and for giving us a weekend away) ~ best of luck to you!

And we're off and running!

A month or so ago, I walked into Keagan's bedroom one morning to get him up for the day, and he was standing in his crib looking at me when I walked in. It took me quite aback for a second but quickly sunk in that our little baby was no longer a little baby. He'd been sitting up himself in his crib so we assumed he was close and were actually talking about dropping his crib the day before. Looks like Keagan's timeline didn't exactly coincide with ours! Within the next couple of days, he was full fledged crawling. He actually started crawling more consistently one Friday while I was off so I was really excited that I got to see it. Once daddy got home from work though, Keagan really started showing off. We just sat around and watched him crawl and pull up on everything all of that evening. Since then, the little guy has been off and running. He's become quite adventurous, and Jeff predicts he'll be walking sooner rather than later. Lord, help us!

Trying out this new standing thing. I was in shock but was able to get a picture on my phone.

Getting into some trouble

On the move...you can see his crawling method is a little unusual. It's a mix between a bear crawl and a normal crawl. The right leg never really gets straighted, but it gets him where he needs to go pretty quickly so that's all that matters.

Trick or Treat

Jeff and I went trick or treating for the first time in ages this year, tagging along with the chicken and Indiana Jones. Aimee and Dylan came down to Columbus to trick or treat, and we had so much fun! We went to a little neighborhood across the street that was so cute - so many people were just sitting outside, one family had a fire pit and there were none of the crazy, creepy teenagers that go out to get free candy (although there was the weird van that had to follow a couple of kids from house to house). Dylan actually made it through the entire neighborhood and at one house where they didn't answer the doorbell, he followed up with a knock and then a "Helllllooooo????" Hilarious! A few nights later, we actually had trick or treat in our neighborhood so we sat outside with all of the candy, excited for the little kiddos. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at having to eat all of the leftover candy!), we didn't have many kids this year since it was on a Saturday night but took the opportunity to get Keags in his chicken costume again and show him off to the neighbors.
